Music Bio
Laurel Mayhew started taking piano lessons when she was 8 years old. She began taking music theory and jazz improv courses as an undergrad at University of New Hampshire. In grad school at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, she took jazz theory, history, and improv courses in addition to playing in the jazz combos and teaching piano. She has been playing piano in Wiseacres, a jazz big band in Fort Collins, Colorado since 2005. She currently plays guitar for Collage, an all-girl jazz/blues quintet and plays piano for Remington Street, a straight-ahead jazz quintet. She recently graduated Magna Sum Laude from Colorado State University with a second Bachelor's degree in Music with an emphasis on jazz piano and composition.
